As your business continues to grow, so does the need to plan IT staffing around upcoming projects, be it short or long term in duration.
But given today’s budget constraints, and the push back to take on new IT personnel, it is getting tougher to pull together key staffers when everyone is handling multiple tasks and workloads.
A lot of businesses, you’re told, are finding success in outsourcing their IT requirements, while others have tried Off-shoring their IT projects to another country.
However, according to an article posted by Alan Strong, ATIP Western Regional Director earlier this year on “Business Knowledge Source,” a momentum is occurring to bringing projects back to the U.S.
He brings attention to this shift to outsourcing locally in his article, “Offshoring: Controversy in the Information Technology Field” in his bid to get deep-in-weeds on the “true costs.”
“...firms...are bringing their work back on shor e. IT is not the type of work that you can just throw over the wall and it will come back to you the way you want it. It takes more costs at the home office to manage the project from afar.”
Other criteria affecting the questionable outcomes with Offshoring include that all-important “retention of employees” factor, which serves to add continuity to assigned projects; furthermore, the overall cost related to the individual working on an Offshore project “does not...justify going offshore.”
